Please enjoy the February and March Progress Report! With two months of changes to get through, it's about time we just dived in. People that were disappointed by the removal of Hybrid Wii Remotes, forced Wii Remote disconnections on Save/Loadstates, and other limitations of Real Wii Remotes should be very excited. But if we're going to talk about the main event, we have a new way to use your Wii Remotes that brings tremendous flexibility.

For instance, Dolphin on Android and macOS see the return of Dark Mode, perfect for late night gaming without straining your eyes. In this Progress Report, you'll find that we've got a lot of changes affecting things outside of core emulation. To those of you relying on Dolphin Emulator, we hope that Dolphin Emulator makes your day a little brighter in these trying times. Everyone has their ways of coping with isolation, using the internet, games, emulation, and much more as forms of entertainment to keep spirits up. Something like this can make what you do feel so very small in the grand scheme of things. We understand that the past few months have been trying for many of us across the world. With that said, it is about time that we get started with the June and July Progress Report. We graciously thank everyone for their kind words over the past few months, and hope you continue to enjoy using Dolphin Emulator.
And while we'd love to revel in past accomplishments, there's still so much more work to be done. Sometimes with all the negativity in emulation, it's refreshing to have something that makes both the developers and the users happy. We love these games and consoles the same as you, and we want to make sure that they live on. The gratitude we received from users finally able to try previously hard-to-access features in their favorite games was so appreciated. It was heartwarming to see long-time users able to play Four Swords Adventures with their kids or friends across the world. In contrast to that narrative, the overwhelmingly positive reaction to some of the features added the last few months, including heartfelt reactions from users, make all of the challenges and struggles so much easier.Īs we drift further from the heyday of the GameCube and Wii, we've been seeing a greater impact not only on the past generations of gamers, but the current one. There's a lot of negativity and questions around the merit and purpose of emulation. I've attached some screenshots of my setup.Emulation is often seen as this suspect gray area of gaming that is tolerated but always on the edge. Note, I don't have all of those active when trying to connect the Wiimote.

The bluetooth adapter I have is " Bluetooth Adapter for PC USB Bluetooth Dongle 4.0 EDR Receiver TECHKEY Wireless Transfer for Stereo Headphones Laptop Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Raspberry Pi, Linux Compatible " and it runs my Xbox controller, PS4 controller and my bluetooth headset just fine. Ok, fair enough but when I try to run a game it yells at me again and yes "Could not find any usable Bluetooth USB adapter for Bluetooth Passthrough".
If I try to sync, it yells at me and says I need to run a game. Not sure what this means.Ī forum post mentioned turning on Bluetooth Passthrough but that doesn't seem to work at all. The "Player 1" light is turned off, but players 2-4 lights are all lit up. The only thing my Wiimotes do is light up three of the four lights when it is connected to my computer. I've also tried continuous scanning, I've reinstalled Dolphin, installed an older version of Dolphin, reboot my computer multiple times, tried different Wiimotes, I'm running out of troubleshooting ideas here and starting to think that Dolphin does not work with Wiimotes anymore. If I select "Emulated Wii Remote", I can map the buttons, but the gameplay is garbage and doesn't hardly work at all anyways due to the motion controls. I've tried pairing like this for close to an hour now as I read somewhere that it never works the first time). If I disconnect the Wiimote from my computer and try "Real Wii Remote" again, nothing happens (even when trying to pair it by pressing the 1+2 buttons or the red button on bottom. If I select "Real Wii Remote" while the Wiimote is connected via bluetooth, nothing happens. However Dolphin seems to have the biggest issue in the world with seeing it. My computer will see my Wiimote just fine. I feel like I've watched every YouTube video and read every forum post.
